SDSS-IV MaNGA: How Galaxy Interactions Influence Active Galactic Nuclei

چکیده
We present a comparative study of active galactic nuclei (AGN) between galaxy pairs and isolated galaxies with the final data release MaNGA integral field spectroscopic survey. build sample 391 kinematic within footprint survey select AGN using survey's spectra. use comoving volume densities samples to quantify effects that tidal interactions have on triggering nuclear accretion. Our hypothesis is pair contains are triggered by not only stochastic accretion but also tidally induced correlated With level stochastically fixed control sample, we model strength as function projected separation (rp) compare expectations observed dual offset (single in pair). At rp ~ 10 kpc, find induce ~30% more than fueling cause ~12% become because correlations. The both these decreases increasing rp. OIII luminosities consistent those found galaxies, likely fed dominate even among close pairs. results illustrates while can detect statistically, it challenging separate interacting galaxies.

Active Galactic Nuclei and Massive Galaxy Cores
Self-consistent N-body simulations have been performed in order to study the effects of a central active galactic nucleus (AGN) on the dark matter profile of a typical giant elliptical galaxy. In our analysis, we assume that periodic bipolar outbursts from a central AGN can induce harmonic oscillatory motions on both sides of the gas core. Using realistic AGN properties, we find that the motion...
متن کاملRed Active Galactic Nuclei in XMM-Newton/SDSS fields
In this paper we combine archival and proprietary XMM-Newton observations (about 5 deg) that overlap with the Sloan Digital Sky Survey to explore the nature of the moderate-z X-ray population. We focus on X-ray sources with optically red colours (g − r > 0.4), which we argue are important for understanding the origin of the Xray background. Firstly, these systems constitute a significant fracti...
متن کاملActive Galactic Nuclei in the CNOC2 Field Galaxy Redshift Survey
We present a sample of 47 confirmed and 14 candidate Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) discovered in the Canadian Network for Observational Cosmology field galaxy redshift survey (CNOC2). The sample consists of 38 objects identified from broad emission lines, 8 from narrow [Nev] emission, and 15 candidates from Fe ii or Mg ii absorption lines, one of which has been confirmed as a broad-line AGN via ...
متن کاملThe Black Hole-Host Galaxy Relation in Active Galactic Nuclei
The masses of the central black holes of Active Galactic Nuclei estimated by the reverberation virial technique seem to be significantly smaller than predicted from the black hole mass-bulge luminosity relation for massive black holes detected by kinematic methods in less active and normal galaxies. We reexamine the relation for updated data and suggest a few reasons that may cause this discrep...
متن کاملThe role of active galactic nuclei in galaxy formation
We use Monte-Carlo Markov chain techniques to constrain acceptable parameter regions for the Munich L-Galaxies semi-analytic galaxy formation model. Feedback from active galactic nuclei (AGN) is required to limit star-formation in the most massive galaxies. However, we show that the introduction of tidal stripping of dwarf galaxies as they fall into and merge with their host systems can lead to...
